Centering Student Voices

A Conversation with Writer, Journalist, and Boston College Professor Carlo Rotella

This afternoon, I sat down with Carlo Rotella, a writer, journalist, and professor at Boston College. Taking Carlo’s new book, What Can I Get Out of This? Teaching and Learning in a Classroom Full of Skeptics, as a starting point, we explored what one can get out of the humanities, how models rather than content make an enduring impact, and what we stand to gain by centering the voices of students in conversations on learning, teaching, and education. Toward the end of our exchange, Carlo was kind enough to highlight some materials, from a podcast and academic studies to a memoir and novel, which listeners, eager to learn more, might find of interest.
